Emily Kinsey is Miss Virginia’s Outstanding Teen 2018. She is a junior at Glen Allen High School in the Specialty Center for Education and Human Development where she is an Honors student, member of the National Honor Society, and a Varsity Sideline Cheerleader. She is an Upper School dance student with The Richmond Ballet and has performed in many productions, such as “The Nutcracker.”
This is Emily’s 5th time participating in the Shenandoah Apple Blossom Festival. She was Miss Apple Blossom Festival’s Outstanding Preteen 2012 and 2014, and went on to become Miss Virginia’s Outstanding Preteen 2014. Last June, she represented Winchester as Miss Apple Blossom Festival’s Outstanding Teen 2018, where she won the Overall Talent award and state Teen title at the Miss Virginia Pageant. One month later, she placed 2nd runner up at Miss America’s Outstanding Teen, receiving a $7,500 scholarship.
Her platform is “Emily’s Army – No Paws Left Behind,” which she started 11 years ago from her love of animals. She currently serves as the Richmond SPCA Youth Humane Education Advocate, as well as the Youth Outreach Coordinator for the Project Against Animal Abuse for the SPCA of Winchester, Frederick, and Clarke Counties. Additionally, she organizes groups to collect and distribute pet care items to the SPCA, other rescue organizations, and pet foster homes throughout Virginia.
Emily plans to obtain a Communications degree and work in Public Relations in the fashion industry. She is the 17-year-old daughter of Jack and Stephanie Kinsey of Glen Allen, Virginia.
