The Bottom Line: Due to circumstances unforeseen last Fall when preliminary plans were being made, the anticipated move of the Prayer Brunch Presented by Knouse Foods to the Tolley Dental Zone at the James R. Wilkins, Jr. Athletics & Events Center at Shenandoah University, will not take place this year.
The Alternate Plan: The 2019 Prayer Brunch Presented by Knouse Foods will return to its traditional format. It will be held on Friday, May 3rd, 2019, at the Winchester Church of God, on Route 522/North, at 9:30am.
The Reasons for This: This very popular event has sold out every year since it was created for the 2000 Festival. It was hoped that, for the 2019 Festival, the event could be moved to the spacious James R. Wilkins, Jr. Athletics & Events Center at Shenandoah University, which would have allowed for more tickets to be sold. However, there was a scheduling conflict. The midday slot on Friday at the Festival’s Tolley Dental Zone was already held by the highly successful Massage Envy Bloomers’ Luncheon. In order to move its location to the Wilkins Center, the Festival’s Prayer Brunch would have to change its date from Friday to Thursday; and, in the end, it was the potential change of date, not the potential change of location, that caused the problem. Festival Organizers were having trouble lining up the traditional military escorts on a Thursday. Some of the traditional Friday entertainment could not, in the end, make the switch to Thursday. The Festival was having trouble making the 24-hour change in the schedule of the Festival Queen, whose appearance is always a highlight of the Prayer Brunch. And, possibly, most damaging, only about half of the army of faithful Volunteers, who assemble the event’s delicious meal each year on Friday, would be able to do the same on a Thursday.
Refund Information: The Shenandoah Apple Blossom Festival® deeply regrets this inconvenience to our friends and fans. Obviously, the Festival is responsible for this unforeseen change; and, anyone who ordered tickets to the 2019 Prayer Brunch Presented by Knouse Foods, expecting the event to be held on Thursday, May 2nd; and, who cannot attend the event on Friday, May 3rd, should come by Apple Blossom Headquarters at 135 North Cameron Street for a refund on your purchase. If you cannot come by ABHQ in person, please contact Office Manager, Donna Saville, at 540-662-3863, to discuss how we can take care of you. If you are alright with the change of venue and date, you don’t need to do anything. Your order is fine the way it is; and, when your physical tickets are mailed to you, they will be printed with the correct venue, date and time.
Pre-Sale of Tickets to the Prayer Brunch: As was stated above, the Festival’s Prayer Brunch has sold out every year since it was created in 2000. This year, the Festival tried very hard through conventional media and social media to advertise the fact that the Pre-Sale of tickets for the Prayer Brunch would start on Wednesday morning, November 14th. As expected, there were ticket-purchasers waiting for ABHQ to open on that morning. The Festival set aside well over half of the available tickets for this Pre-Sale. Unfortunately, two months plus a week has passed, and that entire allotment has been sold. At this time, the Pre-Sale of tickets for the 2019 Prayer Brunch has ended. The remaining tickets will be available when the Festival’s Official Souvenir Store and Ticket Outlet opens [at a location to be announced] at 10:00am on Friday morning, April 5th, 2019.
Check out these Thursday morning, May 2nd, Festival events: The Westminster-Canterbury Breakfast Walk at 8:00am; and, the Willows at Meadow Branch Young-At-Heart Luncheon Dance at 11:00am!!!
