Nothing is as constant as change; and, as the Festival rolls on toward the not-so-distant goal of its 100th Anniversary in 2027, Festival Organizers often hearken to Ben Franklin’s famous quotation: “When you’re finished changing, you’re finished!” To keep the Festival fresh, Organizers constantly change menus, venues and entertainments. The Village at Orchard Ridge Queen’s Dinner will be the ultimate example of change at the 2018 Festival. As with so many Festival events, this event has evolved over the years: from a luncheon to a dinner; from a Featured Speaker format to a faster-paced “Salute to the Queen Designate;” and, among other locations, from the George Washington Hotel to the Festival Event Tent to the Lee-Jackson Ballroom.
As part of a major change of event philosophy in 2018, the Queen’s Dinner will be moving to the ballroom of the Millwood Station Event Center on Costello Drive. Significant for “more senior” event attendees, this facility is at ground level and does not require an elevator or stairs to be accessed. Parking in the area of the Event Center is less complicated due to its location away from the intensity surrounding the Festival. The event’s Title Sponsor, The Village at Orchard Ridge, continues to increase its hands-on support of this time-honored and traditional event; and, this year, The Village at Orchard Ridge staff wanted a chance to feature their excellent culinary team. Executive Chef, Tom Fiammetta, PCIII, and his chefs, will be on the scene at Millwood Station to prepare and oversee the serving of the dinner. Chef Tom’s menu portends an amazing experience:
Passed Hors d’Oeuvres
Tuscan Chicken Satay
Potato Rosti w/ Salmon Mousse & Lemon Oil
Wild Mushroom & Tomato En Croute (Vegan)
(choice of one decided at dinner time at your table)
Pear & Sage Chicken
Marinated Beef w/ Black Cherry & Port Reduction
Roasted Eggplant Napolean (Vegan)
Traditional Apple Pie
Drinks at Table
Coffee, Tea, Water
(cash bar open throughout the evening for adult beverages)
