The Shenandoah Apple Blossom Festival® is justifiably proud of its “famous family connections.” From the Jose Ferrer and Pat Boone Clan, to the multi-generational Ball/Arnaz/Luckinbill/Astin Connection, to the Cameron/Bure and Michael Landon Families, the Festival feels that repeat visits to the Apple Capital by some of America’s most famous families are validation that the Festival’s work is as important and as well done as it seems to us locally. The Festival’s perennially sold-out Prayer Brunch presented by Knouse Foods / Musselman’s certainly enjoys the fruits of this particular success. Perhaps, no family has been as involved with the Festival over the past 50 years as the extended family of evangelist-extraordinaire, Billy Graham; but, standing right with them is the extended family of Christian entrepreneur and Chick-fil-A founder, Truett Cathy. It is with great pride that Festival President, Mike Stanfield, announces that Trudy Cathy White, daughter of S. Truett Cathy, will serve as the Featured Speaker at the 2017 Prayer Brunch presented by Knouse Foods / Musselman’s.
Trudy Cathy White is a native Georgian and the daughter of the late Jeannette and S. Truett Cathy, the founder and chairman emeritus of Chick-fil-A, Inc. At heart, a developer and encourager of well-founded Christian lives, White became the Director of WinShape Camps for Girls in 2003. WinShape Camps was founded by her parents with a mission to “shape winners” through rewarding experiences that promote Christian values. Trudy influences the lives of thousands of young girls each year. WinShape Camps registers more than 32,000 campers each summer (www.winshapecamps.org). Trudy and her husband, John, are also co-founders of Lifeshape, Inc., whose purpose is to glorify God by breaking the unfortunate and widespread cycle of spiritual poverty. Lifeshape provides opportunities for the Chick-fil-A family and other marketplace professionals to build relationships and to be catalysts for the transformation of leaders around the world. Lifeshape implements over fifty projects in nearly thirty countries each year (www.lifeshape.org).
Two of Lifeshape’s most important resources are: Impact 360 Institute and Lifeshape Brazil. The Institute, located south of Atlanta, offers academic experiences that equip young adults to be culture-changers instead of being changed by culture (www.impact360institute.org). Based in Brasilia, Lifeshape Brazil works with churches, educational institutions and companies to equip people to live out their Christian faith (www.lifeshape.org.br). White currently serves on the Board of Directors for Lifeshape, for Impact 360 Institute, for Lifeshape Brazil, and for WinShape Foundation. She is a speaker, an ambassador for Chick-fil-A, and the author of Along the Way, a heart-warming collection of autobiographical stories. This dedicated wife and mother has four children and thirteen grandchildren and is fueled by her passion to invest in relationships. Her life-commitment is to obey God’s leadership, nurture family relationships, and promote godly character in the next generation. More information on Trudy’s life and family can be found at www.cathyfamily.com.
This year, the Official Festival Souvenir Store and Ticket Outlet are located at 212 East Cork Street, directly across from the Winchester Moose Lodge. They will open on Friday, April 7th, at 10:00am. The Prayer Brunch presented by Knouse Foods / Musselman’s has sold out every year since its inception in 2000. There are usually some Prayer Brunch tickets available when the Souvenir Store and Ticket Outlet open; however, tickets are expected to sell rapidly this year; and, Festival Organizers suggest that interested parties not wait too long to purchase them. Trudy Cathy White’s appearance at the 2017 Prayer Brunch is made possible through the generous assistance of Chick fil A and First Bank; and, the Festival gratefully acknowledges that assistance!
