It was an exciting evening of performances on Wednesday, Jan. 25, for the first round of auditions of the annual 2017 Car Credit Nation “Apple Blossom’s Got Talent!” contest.
The Bright Box Theater was host to 16 acts, including a great number of singers and musicians, a gymnast and a magician.
Ten semi-finalists were chosen, including: Scott Burkhart, Gerson Medina, Kris Musser, Ryan Phillips, Virginia Rush, Natalie Spaid, Anthony Taylor, pop/punk/alternative rock band Soldiers of Suburbia, bluegrass trio The Flybirds and the trio of Elliot Eyre, Emma Kate Eyre, and Erin Foster.

Theresa Gaines, chair of the event which is part of the Shenandoah Apple Blossom Festival® to be held April 28 to May 7, reminds the public that there are two more evenings of auditions; Feb. 15 and March 15 — click here to register online.
Contestants who win at the three auditions will compete in the semi-finals April 12, and winners from that event will compete in the finals May 3. The finals will be held during the 90th festival whose theme is “Bloomtown: Bringing the WOW for 90 years!” All contests will begin at 7 p.m. at the Bright Box in downtown Winchester. Prizes awarded at the final event include first place, $5,000; second place, $1,500; and third place, $500.

Audience tickets for the auditions are $10 in the downstairs theater and $5 for the upstairs location.
