How large is the Arts & Crafts Show this year?
Crafter participation is up by about 15%, with over 100 Artisans (handmade jewelry, furniture, clothing, wreathes, etc.) represented on Saturday and Sunday.
Will the Subaru Outdoor Adventure Show return?
Yes, it will! On Sunday only, there will be 20 interactive displays all geared to outdoor adventure, along with the return of the LL Bean Bootmobile.
How big will the Car Show be this year?
With good weather, the Safelite Auto Glass Car Show could be showing as many as 300 vehicles this year: classic cars, show cars, exotics, etc., on Sunday only.
Will there be a Children’s Fun Day?
Absolutely! On Sunday only, the Allstate Kids’ Fun Day will feature: puppet shows, moon bounces, camel rides, theater performances, games, a petting zoo, and more!
Will there be live entertainment?
The best! From 1:00pm to 4:00pm on Sunday afternoon, local favorites, the Robbie Limon Band, will entertain in the performance area behind the War Memorial Building. Attendees are reminded not to bring chairs to the event. The Festival will provide seating.
How big is the Midway this year?
The Anthony’s Pizza Weekend-in-the-Park Midway will have over 80 food and beverage and game concessionaires, and many other areas of interest, on Sunday only.
Were there admission changes made this year?
Yes, there were; and, the Festival has continuously posted these since November 2015. To quote from a March 15th Press Release: “Festival Organizers want to remind the public of changes made last fall in the admission fees for the 2016 event, to reduce surprise at the gate this year. This year, the one-day admission will go up one dollar from $5.00 to $6.00. The two-day collectible admission pin will go up fifty cents, from $7.50 to $8.00. Also, the “child exclusion” has been reduced from “children 11-and-under admitted free,” to “children 5-and-under admitted free. The admission fees to this event were last raised in 2002, fourteen years ago.”
What will traffic be like in the area of the event?
Traffic will inevitably be heavy and slow-moving. The best advice is to plan carefully; familiarize yourself with the area; and, arrive as early as possible.
What will parking be like in the area of the event?
Parking will inevitably be difficult. The Festival has been able to acquire several satellite parking lots on the Shenandoah University Campus; and, also has access to the parking lots at Daniel Morgan School. New for this year, on Sunday only, Candy Hill Campground will be providing courtesy parking lot shuttles to transfer guests from the parking lots to the event gates. The service is free; but, donations will be accepted. Relay for Life is the charity Candy Hill Campground has selected to receive all donations. Handicapped parking is available, but limited.
Will there be bag checks?
Bag checks are standard procedure in the 21st century at large public events. Please be prepared to cooperate with event security. A list of items that cannot be taken into the event will be posted at each gate. One of the primary purposes of the event is to allow Vendors to sell food and drink. Outside food and beverages, including water, will either be restricted, or simply not allowed.
