Arthur L. “Buddy” Dunlap, Jr., was President of the Shenandoah Apple Blossom Festival® in 1991 and 1992. Terrible weather and significant changes in the preceding year meant that the Festival was in some turmoil when Buddy took over; and, he did a masterful job in restoring order and producing two Festivals that were artistic as well as financial successes.
Buddy has always been a great favorite with the Festival Staff. He has maintained a solid friendship with long-time Office Manager, Donna Saville, for over 30 years; and, was the Chairman of the Personnel Committee that hired current Executive Director, John Rosenberger.
Buddy rose to the Festival Presidency through the Carnival and Concessions Department; and, was a mentor to younger volunteers such as Jake Vickers and Dickie Wisecarver; who in turn have mentored another generation of Festival Volunteers.
Buddy bleeds pink and green [and, has always worn it in his Festival clothes, even back when a lot of people didn’t]; and, he richly deserves this special recognition!
