Since the second half of the last century, the Festival has steadily increased its involvement with athletically-themed events, from tribute events like the Partlow Insurance Sports Breakfast, to the Valley Health 10K Race, the Shenandoah Valley Orthodontics Kids’ Bloomin’ Mile, and the Pro-Am Golf Tournament. Continuing in that healthy direction, the Festival is proud to announce that it is collaborating with the Winchester Country Club to create the brand-new Apple Blossom Tennis Pro-Am to be held on Saturday, April 23rd, from 8:00am to 4:30pm.
The entry fee for the new event is expected to be $200 per player. This would cover admission to a Cocktail Reception at 6:30pm the previous evening [April 22nd] when the Tournament Draw would be announced; all Tournament Registrations, and a Professional Stipend. The format is listed as: Preliminary Rounds: Round Robin with Handicap Scoring; and, Finals: Handicap Draw. Spectators are welcome; and, at this time, a fee for spectators is not expected. Food service will be handled by the Winchester Country Club, and souvenir merchandise will likely be available. The public will be kept abreast of event updates via the website, via e-blasts to our fan base, via Facebook, and at SABF Headquarters at 540-662-3863.
