Winchester — Twenty-four acts competed Wednesday in the second round of auditions for the 2015 Second Annual Car Credit Nation, Apple Blossom’s Got Talent Show at the Bright Box Theatre, 15 N. Loudoun St.
The winners, who will compete in the semi-finals April 8, include the following: Beth Whistler and Larry Haun, Rob Talton and William Banks, Caitlin Deerin, Kate and Tyler Seal, Patrina Thomas, Stephanie Connell, Amanda Willis, Heather Gayle, Sandra Lyerly, and Rebecca Balcom.
More than 125 people attended the sold-out events. “It was a wonderful evening with lots of good acts,” said Theresa Gaines, co-chair of the event with Kim Foltz.
Judges for the second round include Dr. James Laster, professor emeritus at Shenandoah Conservatory at Shenandoah University; Sara Gomez who has been acting and directing productions for 46 years in the area, and Mario Orsini, a professional illusionist who has performed since 2008.
A maximum of 30 contestants is selected to perform at each of the three auditions. The first round was held Jan. 14. Ten winners are chosen at the three auditions to compete in the semi-finals.
This is the second year the Shenandoah Apple Blossom Festival® has sponsored the talent show. Twelve contestants will be selected for the final contest, which will be held April 29 during the 88th festival, April 24 to May 3. This year’s theme is “Get Your Bloom On.”
Prizes awarded at the final event include first place, $5,000; second place, $1,500, and third place, $500.
