Festival Organizers decided to go back over the past history of the event and choose the most successful version of each event component and put them all together in what might be called the “Best of Weekend-in-the-Park.”
Festival President, Lou Ann Thompson, announces that Ali Astin, daughter of Sean and Christine Astin, granddaughter of Patty Duke and John Astin, will be crowned as Queen Shenandoah LXXXVII, during the upcoming 87th edition of “the Bloom.”
“Who knew?” has been the most common comment from Festival Organizers regarding the Shenandoah Apple Blossom Festival®’s, newest event: the Car Credit Nation “Apple Blossom’s Got Talent!” contest. There are plans for a Special Celebrity appearance and concert during the Finals; and plans to try to bring any of the Official Celebrity Marshals who are still in town by the event that night.
Yes, Festival Fans, the rumors are true! After an absence of over 30 years, the Official Shenandoah Apple Blossom Festival® Souvenir Store and Ticket Outlet will return to Old Town Winchester. This year the Festival’s Store will be located in the newly renovated “The Railroad District at 302 North Cameron Street.”
On Tuesday, March 18, Shenandoah Apple Blossom Festival® President Lou Ann Thompson presented the official souvenir pin for the 87th Festival to local radio personality Barry Lee and Winchester resident Barbara Simmons.
Jacqueline “Jackie” Marie Griffin will serve as the Featured Speaker at the 2014 Festival Prayer Brunch presented by Knouse Foods/Musselman’s. A mother of three, a retired Army sergeant, a devout Christian and a top-flight communicator, Jackie is a remarkable lady in her own right; but, she is probably first recognized as the mother of Washington Redskins’ starting quarterback, Robert Griffin III (RG3.)
What an incredible evening! If you weren’t at Bright Box Theater in Old Town Winchester on March 13, you missed out bigtime. A total of 25 acts competed in the second round of auditions for the “Car Credit Nation: Apple Blossom’s Got Talent!” The top 10 won a coveted spot in the semi-final competition, set for Thursday, April 17, 2014.
