Ahna Cameron, daughter of Kirk and Chelsea Cameron, lives in Southern California with her Mom and Dad, three brothers, and two sisters. She is a 17-year-old junior at Trinity Pacific Christian School; and, loves hiking in the beautiful hills of Los Angeles. Until recently, Ahna’s sport/hobby of choice was running track; but, she has already made the tough, mature decision to stop running competitively since she has recognized in herself a deep desire to become a missionary/nurse after high school and college. Juggling track and training, while pursuing a nursing degree, would just be too difficult. Since third grade, when Ahna read biographies of American Red Cross founder, Clara Barton, she has dreamed of becoming a nurse; and, she has decided to follow her passion, and is thrilled and excited to start her necessary schooling. She is leaning towards working as an RN in the labor/ delivery room. Ahna also feels God’s call in her ambition. She knows that if she can offer a skill that will help reach people’s physical needs, they will be all the more willing to listen as she helps reach their spiritual needs.
Ahna tells us that: “I am a very big reader. I’ll read anything I can get my hands on. One of my favorite books is, “The Giver.” My favorite genre of books is fiction, but to narrow it down even more, I love adventurous and mysterious books…..books that keep me on the edge of my seat. And of course, I love romance. Another one of my passions is traveling all over the United States with my Dad as he shares the Gospel, and helps to strengthen marriages. One of my favorite things about traveling is that I get to try all different kinds of foods. I love to bake and one of my ultimate favorites is the apple pie. I haven’t quite gotten the hang of making the classic dessert, but I’m excited to try and sneak some tips from the pros at the Festival. I feel thrilled and honored to be your Queen this year; and, to make new friends, which is another thing I am good at. This experience is extra special since my cousin, Natasha Bure, was the Queen last year. Natasha shared a photo album with me, full of pictures which all had fun stories behind them, making it that much more exciting. She didn’t give everything away because she wanted to leave a few surprises along the way for me. As Natasha shared the photo album with me, she couldn’t stop saying how being Queen Shenandoah LXXXVIII was one of the best experiences she has ever had in her life; and, when it is my turn, how I will never forget it!”
Highlights of Ahna Cameron’s reign will be her elaborate Coronation in the Patsy Cline Theater at John Handley High School at 1:30pm, on Friday afternoon, April 29th; and, her ride through the Grand Feature Parade on her iconic Gold Apple Throne on Saturday afternoon, April 30th, at 1:30pm. Tickets are available.
