It is simply a fact that The Willows At Meadow Branch Young-At-Heart Luncheon Dance was obviously created for, and has been maintained for, the pleasure of some of the more senior members of the Bloom Nation. It is also a fact that these loyal Bloom fans have some special needs to ensure their safety and comfort while they are attending Festival events. Like so many Festival events, the Young-At-Heart Luncheon Dance has always been held at an outdoor Festival venue: covered, but not heated or air conditioned; and, with temporary access points and portable restroom features. The Festival dodged a major bullet last spring when the weather report for the morning of the Young-At-Heart Luncheon Dance was for damp, drizzly, breezy, and quite cool. Fortunately, the weather was much better than expected; but, the experience was unnerving enough to push Festival Organizers to make a major change.
For the 2016 Festival, The Willows At Meadow Branch Young-At-Heart Luncheon Dance will be moved inside, into the Special Events Center at Millwood Station Fire and Rescue. At this location, Festival Organizers can more easily control the climate and provide stable access points and restroom facilities. Other than the venue change, there are no other changes planned for the event. The music and the food and the camaraderie and the excitement will remain the same, including, of course, the traditional warm apple dumpling “appetizer!” The Special Events Center at Millwood Station is located at 252 Costello Drive. This is the street that accesses Costco off of Front Royal Pike. The Special Events Center is on the right a short distance past Costco, on the hill behind Millwood Station Fire and Rescue.
Please note: Because this venue does not have the capacity to be expanded, there will be a definite cap placed on the number of tickets offered for the 2016 Festival. It is expected that no more than 300 tickets will be sold to the public for this popular event; so, please do not wait to buy! The public will be kept abreast of ticketing via www.thebloom.com, via e-blasts to our fan base, via Social Media, and at SABF Headquarters at 540-662-3863.
