Believe it or not, Bloom Nation, it is time to start the party once more! Back in mid-November, the Festival set the table by announcing the 2016 theme: “Unforgettable!” Then, in a burst of pre-Thanksgiving activity, the Festival also held its Fall Volunteer Fair; and, crowned our 2016 Miss Apple Blossom Festival, Cameron Smith of Bristol; and, our 2016 Outstanding Teen, Trilby Brown of Winchester. Everyone at the Bloom will, of course, surround themselves for the next few weeks with the wonders of the Christmas Season; but, with appetites fully whetted for pink and green, as soon as the calendar turns to 2016, the party starts once more!
The reference to a January start is no exaggeration. Here is the official schedule for the 2016 Car Credit Nation “Apple Blossom’s Got Talent!” contest, presented by PMSI [Pest Management Services Incorporated]:
- First Audition – Wednesday, January 13th, 2016, 7:00pm, Bright Box Theater
- Second Audition – Wednesday, February 10th, 2016, 7:00pm, Bright Box Theater
- Third Audition – Wednesday, March 9th, 2016, 7:00pm, Bright Box Theater
- Semi-Finals – Wednesday, April 6th, 2016, 7:00pm, Bright Box Theater
- Finals – Wednesday, April 27th, 2016, 7:00pm, Bright Box Theater
To repeat ourselves for emphasis, that First Audition is Wednesday, January 13th, at 7:00pm, at the Bright Box Theater, on the Loudoun Street Walking Mall, in Old Town Winchester. Apple Blossom Headquarters will re-open after the 12-day Holiday Break on Monday, January 4th; and, that First Audition is 9 days later!
This year, Event Chair, Theresa Gaines, is searching for an array of unique talents. While it is simply a fact that acts based on singing tend to be in the majority at nearly all talent contests, Theresa is searching for a wide variety of participants from throughout the Mid-Atlantic Region: dancers, acrobats, hula-hoopers, jugglers, animal acts, ventriloquists, comedians, strongmen, instrumentalists, mimes, impressionists, et cetera; basically, any act that can be performed on the stage at the Bright Box Theater. Talent Applications are available now at the Festival web site, and the Application Fee is $15.00. There are only 30 performance slots per Audition. When the process is completed, 12 contestants will join Jennifer “Baby” Jackson [winner of September’s “Best Voice in the Valley Contest”] at the April 27th Finals of the ABGT event.
The Bright Box Theater has made some recent changes to its layout to accommodate more seating; but, with the popularity of the Car Credit Nation “Apple Blossom’s Got Talent!” event, seating will still be at a premium; and, as announced last year, and as printed on this year’s Ticket Form, the Festival will surely be limiting availability at some point. At this time, people can come by ABHQ and fill out a physical Ticket Order in person; can fill out a physical Ticket Order and mail it to us; can download a Ticket Order at the web site, fill it out and fax it to us; can download a Ticket Order at the web site, fill it out, scan it and email it to us; and, just recently activated, they can order tickets online at the Festival’s Official Online Store. The physical tickets will be printed very soon; and, once they are in, the Staff at ABHQ will start mailing them out. Friday, January 8th, will be the deadline to mail tickets for the First Audition. After that, filled orders will be available at Will Call at the event. Unsold tickets will also be available at the gate.
