The Shenandoah Apple Blossom Festival® has been trying to connect with Country Music celebrity, Linda Davis, for some years now; but, the scheduling just couldn’t be worked out. In 2015, however, in what is becoming a common occurrence for the 88th Festival, the stars have aligned; and, Festival President, Jim Douglas, is pleased to announce that Linda Davis will not only be appearing at the Bloom; but, will be honoring us with an extended stay. On Friday, May 1st, Linda will be serving as the Keynote Speaker at the Festival Prayer Brunch presented by Knouse Foods/Musselman’s. On the previous Wednesday evening, Linda will be a Guest Judge at the Finals of “Car Credit Nation Apple Blossom’s Got Talent!.” She will also lend her charm and her beauty to all possible events in the busy Festival Schedule; and, will cap off her week by riding in both of the Festival’s big Parades.
Labeled a “song stylist,” Davis’s unique ability to interpret a song has made her one of Nashville’s favorite vocalists. As her talents caught the attention of label executives, she landed her first record deal with CBS/Epic Records. Davis quickly gained a legion of friends and fans in the music industry, one being superstar Reba McEntire. Their mutual respect led them into the studio together where they recorded a duet entitled “Does He Love You” that went on to become a #1 hit and earn both artists several awards including a Grammy for Best Country Vocal Collaboration. Through the years, Davis has played to sold-out shows with the likes of Garth Brooks, George Strait, Reba McEntire and Kenny Rogers just to name a few. In 2009, Linda was inducted into the Texas Country Music Hall of Fame. Currently, Linda maintains a busy schedule performing for audiences, songwriting and coaching aspiring singers through her “Stage Performance 101” business. If proof of her mastery of her craft is needed: her daughter is Hillary Scott, the female lead in Lady Antebellum.
Linda Davis’s Christian faith is central to her character and to her life. She says: “As a parent, the magnitude of God’s love for me makes even more sense. Although I do not profess to even come close to understanding the mind or ways of Almighty God, I do understand the human love that a mother has for her children! I understand the desire to have a close relationship with my children. I understand how I will go to the “nth degree” to make myself available to my children. I know that no matter how my children might hurt my feelings or disappoint me I will always love them; even love them enough to tell them when they are wrong; even love them enough to hold them accountable for their mistakes; reminding them that they can never not be my child!”
Linda’s personal testimony continues: “There are plenty of ways that God has shown me His favor. I know that God has closed doors or had me wait for a door to open. I also know that He has blessed me way over and beyond what I deserve; and, I just say, “Thank You!” Over and over again, I say, “Thank You'”! Even when I hurt and my heart is broken, I really do make myself find things for which I can say, “Thank You!” The thing for which I am most thankful: my eternal salvation! The second thing(s) for which I am most thankful: My husband and my two daughters’ salvation. We’ll always be together…..always!”
